Type: Bed & Breakfast
Langhams Cottage lies 2 miles east of the Historic Market town of Haslemere on the Surrey Sussex border. Dating from around 1800 it lays on the B2131 at the foot of the National Trust area of Blackdown, an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The bed and breakfast accommodation is detached from the property at the bottom of the garden in the original two storey brick built stable and grain store. It is private with 2 large rooms and a shower room. Outside downstairs is decking with table and chairs; upstairs there is a balcony with lovely views of Blackdown, perfect for evenings just relaxing. The ground floor has a lounge with comfortable sofa, TV, DVD and dining area where breakfast will be served. Tea and coffee making facilities and a small fridge are also provided. The shower room has WC, basin, shower, heated towel rail and fluffy white towels.Upstairs via an open plan staircase there is a large bedroom, with super king (6’) bed which can be made up as two 3’ single beds, wardrobe, dressing table, clock radio, hairdryer and iron. Heating is provided by 2 oil filled radiators. There is a wood burning stove downstairs which can be lit on request.
A buffet breakfast will be served downstairs or outside in good weather if preferred. When available, produce from local shops and our own eggs will be used, including bread, bacon and sausages with good tea and coffee. Continental breakfasts can be catered for on request. Any special dietary needs will need to be notified in advance.
A toaster and hot plate is provided with a small fridge to hold milk and fruit juices. There is no alcohol licence but the fridge can hold a bottle of wine or beer.
Our facilities are not suitable for children or pets. We have our own small dog, pet goat and chickens with rooster, who can be better than an alarm clock! There is off road parking in the driveway and secure storage for bicycles. Visitors are welcome to sit in the garden. If required we can pick up visitors from the station and for business travellers deliver them to a local meeting the next morning. Apart from relaxing in the garden the surrounding area has many attractions for visitors. Haslemere itself has many interesting privately owned shops and a museum. There are many excellent restaurants, pubs, hotels and takeaways with varying cuisine. Walking is excellent with the National Trust (NT) areas of Blackdown and Gibbet Hill at Hindhead and the Sussex Border path. A bit further afield is the historic town of Petworth with NT Petworth House and park, Goodwood, the Southdowns way, Amberley Wildlife Brook, Arundel Wildlife Trust ,Arundel Castle and NT Uppark.
