Surrey Hills
The Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), designated in 1958, offers some of South East England’s most beautiful and accessible countryside and the highest point in the South East of England at Leith Hill. You’ll discover an extensive footpath network, open commons, breathtaking views, attractive market towns and villages and much more. Over the centuries the Surrey Hills has been a favourite playground for local people and visitors keen to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery – now it’s your turn!
The hills stretch across the chalk North Downs that run from Farnham in the west, above Guildford, Dorking and Reigate, to Oxted in the east. To the south are the Greensand Hills that include Blackdown and the Devil’s Punch Bowl. In between are the river valleys of the Wey, Tillingbourne and Mole and the heaths of Frensham, Thursley and Blackheath.
