Haslemere
Type: Towns & Villages
Situated on the borders of Hampshire and West Sussex, this historic market town with its timbered and tilehung houses and cottages, is one of the gems of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The many shops, restaurants and cafés in the town ensure a vibrant atmosphere. The Haslemere Museum has fascinating exhibitions throughout the year and is also home to artefacts from ancient civilisations, including an Egyptian Mummy, as well as specimens from the animal kingdom, fossils and plants.
The Haslemere Hall is the centre of cultural life with a wide variety of shows, opera productions, plays, films and other events. The opening in 2011 of the Hindhead Tunnel has enhanced the attractiveness and character of nearby Hindhead as a major attraction for walkers and sightseers who are able to enjoy the peace of the heath and woodland.
