Margaret Harrison in Conversation at the Lightbox
Type: Exhibition
Thursday 16 February at 7.00pm
Leading artist and pioneer of feminist art; Margaret Harrison will be joining The Lightbox on Thursday 16 February at 7.00pm for the fascinating talk: ‘Margaret Harrison in Conversation’. Harrison will be in conversation with Caroline Douglas, Head of The Arts Council Collection and will be discussing her work.
This talk is in connection with the current exhibition ‘Transmitter Receiver: The Persistence of Collage’ which explores the use of collage in British art. Collage has also been used by feminist artists to protest against the advertising industry’s use of the female image and issues with gender in general. Harrison, who has a piece in the exhibition, is renowned for making headlines. Her work subverts conventional ideas of sexuality and gender, questioning popular culture’s portrayal of women. Harrison is highly respected by the art world, with the Tate owning seven of her pieces, so don’t miss out on this unique chance to hear her talk about her artistic practice.
