Guildford Symphony Orchestra present a ravishing rhapsody of Russian romanticism, a trans-siberian voyage across Russia’s vast musical landscape from the Baltic to the Pacific via the Great Gate of Kiev, featuring sizzling Shostakovich, majestic Mussorgsky, enchanted swans, a Montague/Capulet face-off and pianistic pyrotechnics from Masa Tayama in Rachmaninov’s dazzling Paganini Rhapsody.
About the 1812 Overture we’ll say only this: we’ve got our own cannon. And we’re not afraid to use it.
