Tulip Festival at Polesden Lacey
Type: Show / Display
Late April – mid May
10am – 5pm
The gardens at the National Trust’s Polesden Lacey are set to be a blaze of colour by the end of April again as the second annual Tulip Festival reaches its peak.
Last year 45,000 people came to enjoy the over 15,000 tulip bulbs kindly donated by de Jager, and our gardeners have been hard at work planting a similar display in the 150m border. Look out for favourites including ‘Ivory Floradale’ , a tall, elegant creamy flowering hybrid and the brightly-coloured Lilyfire with its lily-shaped petals.
Garden and Countryside Manager, Simon Akeroyd said: “Last spring we had an amazing display and this year’s could be even better. It should last for two or three weeks and I would encourage enthusiasts to make more than one visit to see different varieties come into bloom”.
The Tulip Festival is set to run from late April to early May, however last year’s unseasonably warm weather brought the blooms out more than two weeks early so we would advise you to visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk/polesdenlacey to monitor their progress and make sure you don’t miss out on this spectacular show.
To complement the garden displays, local florists will be mounting special flower arrangements in the house from Wednesday 25th to Sunday 29th April.
