Spend and win in Haslemere!
Type: Information Sheet
Haslemere shops are offering a range of super weekly prizes as well as bargains and other special offers to remind customers that they are fully open for business during essential gas main replacement in the town centre.
Don’t be put off by the ‘road closed’ signs – Haslemere shops retain their special warm welcome, excellent service, great products and competitive prices. And now, the more you spend in participating shops, the greater your chance of winning one of the fabulous prizes on offer.
Many shops are displaying ‘Keep Calm and Carry on Shopping in Haslemere’ campaign posters as a further reminder of their commitment to customers from far and wide who enjoy shopping in the town. The campaign is a Haslemere and District Chamber of Trade and Commerce initiative.
More information on the campaign, including Spend and Win prizes and other offers, is available on Twitter, Facebook and our special website. Please stay in touch by following @HaslemereShop and www.facebook.com/HaslemereShops and clicking on www.haslemere.com/keepcalm – and remember to tell your friends.
Just one road will be ‘access only’ throughout the gas main work as it moves along Lower Street, between the High Street and Tanners Lane. Shepherds Hill (A286) will be affected while access is restricted off Lower Street. Diversions are in place, and the three town centre car parks remain open and easily accessible throughout.
As an alternative, why not park outside the town centre and take one of the regular buses into town?
Bus services run as normal, but are temporarily re-routed via West Street, Bridge Road and Tanners Lane. The Lower Street bus stop is replaced by a temporary stop in the High Street.
Only the drivers of vehicles more than 11ft 6in high using the A286 through Haslemere will need to re-route as the diversions towards Midhurst – via Sturt Road or Liphook Road – are restricted by railway bridges.
It’s easy to get into Haslemere by car. There are three pay-and-display car parks: High Street, Chestnut Avenue (access via West Street of Bridge Road) and Tanners Lane. Kerbside parking is prohibited in West Street, Chestnut Avenue (part) and Bridge Road to facilitate movement of emergency vehicles, buses and delivery lorries.
Entering Haslemere:
From Hindhead (A287) and Liphook (B2131) – Left into Tanners Lane, right into Bridge Road, then Chestnut Avenue and West Street to the High Street. Left for Milford, right for Chiddingfold and round the Town Hall for access to High Street car park.
From Midhurst and Fernhurst (A286): Follow signs for A287, turn right at Hindhead Road and follow directions above.
From Chiddingfold and Petworth (A283): Follow B2131 as normal to town centre, use West Street, Bridge Road and Tanners Lane to reach station, Wey Hill and other facilities.
From Milford: Follow A286 to town centre. NB: No right turn into West Street – go round the town hall then turn left into West Street. Follow directions above for other facilities.
