Type: Towns & Villages

An old English market town with narrow streets lined with some of the finest Georgian architecture in the south of England, with a parish church and castle dating back to the 12th Century.

Farnham has been an important site for thousands of years, the Romans used its plentiful clay to make pottery and the Saxons gave it its name. Walking through its streets you can sense its history and when you meet Castle Street (described as one of the finest streets in England) with its sweep up to the Castle, you can appreciate this is indeed, a distinctive and attractive town.

In harmony with its heritage, Farnham also offers a wealth of tempting opportunities for shopping, eating out, sightseeing or just relaxing in gardens and flower filled yards. Yet the town is only half the story, Farnham is an ideal centre for exploring the surrounding countryside with its gentle hills, rivers, leafy lanes, historic buildings and picturesque villages.

The Surrey Hills are not only rich in wildlife, woodland, attractive market towns and villages, but also provide some of the best walking in Southern England. Farnham is a very special place, ideal for spending quality time.
