The Spike

The Spike Vagrants and Casuals Ward, located in Guildford  is one of the few remaining buildings from the Poor Law era.  Built in 1906 to house vagrants and low paid workers the Spike continued as a night hostel after the New Poor Laws of 1834 ended in 1929. Open Tuesday and Saturdays.
