Surrey Interactive Map

Surrey County Council provides an interactive GIS (geographic information system) map which has various layers giving additional information on the County. The map does require a fast broadband link; we do not recommend using this map if you are on a slow link or dial-up modem.

Ordnance Survey is the official mapping agency for Great Britain.  They produce a variety of types and scales of maps, for the casual visitor through to those more serious about outdoor pursuits.

OS Travel Series - Tour Map 1:100 000 scale

The OS Travel Map - Tour series - is based on counties or popular tourist areas and is ideal for helping you to plan the quickest, shortest or most scenic route to your destination. These easy-to-read maps include essential tourist information to help you get the most from your trip.

The OS Travel Map - Route series - can be used for navigating popular Long Distance Routes, coastal paths and National Trails.

Tour map 18 covers Surrey, West and East Sussex and South West London. Visit the Ordnance Survey website for more information, online maps and their online shop.

OS Landranger Map 1:50 000 scale

Other Surrey maps:

A-Z® street mapping features motorways, A and B roads, postcode districts, borough boundaries, built-up areas, green areas and water features. Important buildings are colour-coded to assist map reading.

They are available from most good booksellers or online from ordnance survey or Amazon.

Phillip's® street atlases show every street in England, Wales and most of Scotland.

These detailed, comprehensive and highly successful street atlases are ideal for motoring, business and leisure use. They are widely used by the emergency services, professional drivers and local authorities throughout Britain.

These are available from most good booksellers or online from ordnance survey or Amazon.

This new edition of the AA's groundbreaking series of ‘Street by Street’ titles, covering the county of Surrey, was fully revised and updated for 2007. Presented in a large format, the maps clearly show AA recommended restaurants, pubs, hotels, one-way streets and car parks. 24-hour petrol stations and garden centres are also highlighted. Also featuring a clever use of colour to ensure they can be read under street lighting and using National Grid referencing for easy navigation from page to page.

These are available from most good booksellers or online from Amazon.

Online Maps

There are now a number of online mapping companies providing free downloadable maps of the UK.  These maps are ideal for locating places but they do not normally show the level of detail required for walking, cycling or leisure pursuits. We recommend the OS series maps for these uses.

Google Maps

Produced by the world’s number one search engine, the Google Map function is easy to use and provides clear mapping, with the added feature of showing aerial photography overlaid on the map.
