Basingstoke Canal

Type: Heritage / Visitor Centre

The Basingstoke Canal Centre is a great place to relax or find out more about Surrey and Hampshire's picturesque canal. From the rolling North Hampshire Hills to the dramatic flights of locks in Surrey, the tree lined canal offers a variety of delights.

It is a 'SSSI' nature reserve, teeming with wildlife, while it's 200 year old bridges and locks hold a surprise around every corner. Add in the colourful sights of traditional narrow boats and you have a unique attraction, all for free.

You can enjoy the canal from the 32 mile long towpath or even take a boat or cruise.
