The British Wildlife Centre is the best place to see and learn about Britain’s own wonderful wildlife, with over forty different species on display, which include deer, foxes, otters, badgers, pine martens and red squirrels, as well as birds of prey.  The animals live in attractive natural settings and half hourly Keeper Talks give you the chance to see up close many animals rarely seen in the wild.

Launched in 2010, the unique walk-through red squirrel enclosure leads visitors through the trees to see the colony of free-ranging red squirrels, providing the kind of close-up viewing almost impossible in nature.  The extensive Nature Reserve provides a mixture of wetland and woodland habitat which attracts many wild birds and animals, that can viewed from the boardwalk which takes visitors to the edges of the reserve.  Most animals can be seen whatever the weather and much of the Centre is outdoors, but there are plenty of undercover attractons such as The Barn and the The Hedgerow where you'll see rats, rabbits, hedgehogs mice and voles.  You also get the chance to see badgers in a special underground viewing chamber.

The Centre includes a coffee shop, picnic area, gift shop and plenty of on-site parking. It’s easily accessible on the A22 at Newchapel, Lingfield, just 10 minutes south of the M25 Junction 6 (Godstone). The Centre is open every weekend and Bank Holiday from March to October and daily during school holidays throughout the year.

A great day out for all the family and a real life natural history lesson!
