Relax and explore the beautiful countryside and surrounding chocolate box villages. We have some of the most extensive footpaths networks in the country. You could take it up a gear and hit one of the many mountain bike trails Surrey has to offer. For road cyclist, the 2012 Olympic Cycle route up Box Hill is a must do and has helped make Surrey a real Mecca for cyclists.
There is a great variety of theatres throughout the county to keep you entertained, including our own highly respected independent theatres at the Yvonne Arnaud in Guildford and The Rose Theatre in Kingston. We also have the larger, very modern G Live in Guildford, the New Victoria Theatre in Woking and the Harlequin Theatre in the east of the country at Redhill. The attractive Art Deco building, Dorking Halls Theatre has a wide variety of events and performances, both professional and amateur theatre. You are also spoilt for choice with cinemas across the county from Vue Camberley in the west of the county, to the Odeon in Guildford and Epsom, Ambassadors in Woking and Harlequin theatre in Redhill.
Surrey also has a great variety of places to dine from the famous Tante Marie cookery school and restaurant in Woking, to all the well known franchises like Pizza Express, Cafe Rouge, Zizzi s and more. Surrey also has an interesting local food and drink offer to seek out in some of our specialist village pubs and boutique restaurants. We are also gathering a growing fan base for our sparkling wines and boutique beers. Our Silent Pool Gin is winning award after award and is now shipped to over 6 countries- which is pretty impressive for a business that was only started three years ago!
Surrey also has a vibrant nightlife to see you into the early hours. Guildford is a popular university town with many late night bars and clubs and also boasts a Purple flag, awarded to towns that have a safe and well managed evening economy. Most of the larger towns across Surrey have venues that party well into the night and many of the pubs host a wide variety of local and professional musicians for you to enjoy. Surrey has a huge musical heritage from internationally recognised classical composer like Vaughan Williams to 60s rockers like Eric Clapton, mod 70s bands like The Jam, rock band Genesis, to more contemporary home grown talent like, Justin Hawkins from The Darkness- all indicating an active and interesting musical scene here in Surrey.
