Wedding Receptions at University of Surrey

The University of Surrey is a great place to dine and celebrate. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, with leafy, landscaped grounds  overlooking a picturesque lake, our campus is a picture-perfect location.   Stag Hill campus has four unique venues.

The largest of these is Hillside Restaurant, which is a beautifully designed contemporary venue and is equally delightful whether hosting a formal banquet, wedding reception, dinner dance or a corporate function. The main restaurant has floor-to-ceiling glass panels that can be discretely re-set for events running from the afternoon through to the evening, providing a separate but still integrated restaurant, lounge and bar area.   Hillside Restaurant seats up to 300 people seated or 700 standing and has a dance floor, bar and lounge area.  The University Hall is a large open space with endless possibilities. Perfect for informal large gatherings, corporate events and large children’s parties, it’s also a wonderful location for brides looking for an open area to transform into their own unique venue and do their own catering. There is an abundance of space for eating and entertainment all in one room. Back drops and large stages can easily be installed to allow bands and acts to perform.

For formal functions or smaller wedding receptions Oak Suite is perfect,   Set on its own private floor within Oak House, the Oak Suite has a distinctive feel of calm and tranquillity in its rooms, making them perfect for formal occasions  for up to 70 people seated or 120 standing. In the largest of the Oak Suite’s four rooms, floor to ceiling windows provide access to a private balcony. .     For smaller informal celebrations Roots Bar has been thoughtfully designed to create an exciting venue for small private gatherings for up to 85. A stylish mix of vintage and contemporary decor gives Roots character and style in abundance, making this a distinctive venue choice. Roots has a state-of-the-art sound system that allows you to connect your own iPod.  Lighter buffets and finger food work well in Roots or it is an ideal space simply for a drinks bar.   

Wates House is conveniently located a stone’s throw from Guildford Cathedral and has wonderful views of the beautiful landscaped campus. This charming venue has a combination of modern and traditional function rooms and a warm and welcoming bar at its heart. The layout of Wates House makes this an exciting venue for celebrating special occasions. Amongst its function rooms, Wates House has a full stage for entertainers in front of a dining area along with an overhead viewing gallery.  Wates House can take bookings for up to 100 seated or 250 standing.
