Mole Valley District Council
Dorking and Leatherhead are the two main towns in the Mole Valley and are easily accessible by both road and rail.
Dorking is a market town with a vibrant community and strong sense of history and tradition. The town offers much to be enjoyed from great food and drink, architecture and heritage including the Dorking Museum, antiques and shopping. A visit to Dorking would not be complete without a visit to West Street, famous for its antiques trade, drawing people to its shops and emporiums from all over the world. A walk along West Street is to experience Aladdin’s Cave. The town is also home to the Dorking Halls which offers a wide programme of live events including top comedians, live music, ballet, opera and children’s entertainment as well as event screenings and cinema.
Leatherhead, centrally placed within Surrey and easily accessed via the M25 it is a successful business centre and gateway to the beautiful Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This historic market town located near the tranquil River Mole maintains this tradition today with a market every Thursday and Saturday in the town centre. On the outskirts of Leatherhead are two popular attractions, the historic house of Polesden Lacey, one of the National Trust’s impressive properties and Bocketts Farm. Bocketts is a working farm with plenty of animals and play areas both indoors and out, making it one of the South East’s most popular family attractions.
Linking both towns is the Mole Gap Trail, a six mile walk along the banks of the River Mole past the great estates of Norbury and Cherkley and through England’s largest vineyard, Denbies Wine Estate.
