Surreys Museums

Surrey has a wide variety of museums right across the county.  There are approximately 40 museums of all sizes, telling the stories of local people, notable dates, and significant happenings.

The town museums have wide collections focused on their local area and include the towns of Egham, Chertsey, Haslemere, Farnham, Guildford, and Bourne Hall at Epsom to name a few.  Independent museums focusing on one subject such as Watts Gallery - the home and gallery of the internationally famous Victorian painter GF Watts, and Brooklands Museum - the birthplace of British motorsport and aviation.

The Surrey History Centre based in Woking is where the county heritage team are located.  Open to the public the centre houses vast collections of documents and objects.  Collecting and preserving our heritage the staff are passionate about the work they do and are always on hand to help visitors.
