Surrey is extremely lucky to have a fantastic number of world class gardens, from unique and historically important Georgian landscape gardens of Painshill and Claremont to the modern experimental gardens of RHS Wisley, through to the old walled gardens as part of Loseley House or Polesden Lacey, while not forgetting Winkworth Arboretum, or Savill Garden.
Painshill
A fantastic example of a Georgian landscape garden. Built during the height of Georgian fantasy gardens, the Park has some of the most amazing examples of follies of any garden in England. With a ruined abbey, Turkish tent, watermill, glittering grotto to name a few. This is a wonderful way to spend a few hours.
Prices – 10+, deposit is required, free entry for group organisers and coach drivers

Polesden Lacey
The famous Edwardian house owned by Mrs Greville, who had magnificent parties and fun in the early part of the 20th century. Beautiful rooms, formal gardens, and large estate for long walks.

RHS Wisley
The famous garden owned by the Royal Horticultural Society. A very large garden promoting and demonstrating all types of horticulture, from formal bedding, wild areas, water gardens, herbaceous plantings, pinetum to fruit and vegetable gardens, small gardens, glasshouses and more.

Catering – two large cafes plus restaurant ideal for groups for lunch and tea

Loseley Park
A marvellous Elizabethan house and garden, with walled garden, fruit and vegetable gardens plus flower gardens this is a wonderful traditional garden and a real treat to visit.

Other – reduced opening during winter months
Length of visit – 2 – 4 hours
Other gardens – Titsey Place, Claremont Gardens, Winkworth Arboretum
Itineraries and suggested ideas:
- Loseley Park for the morning with either elevenses or light lunch followed by either a visit to Painshill Park or for a non garden visit Watts Gallery just down the road from Loseley or a trip into Guildford for sightseeing.
- A Georgian Landscape day, the morning at Painshill Park with lunch in their café, followed by the afternoon at Claremont Gardens.
- Start at Polesden Lacey together with lunch followed by a visit to Denbies Wine Estate for a different afternoon or to Titsey Place.
