Get Active sports and countryside in Surrey
For smaller groups Surrey has a great variety of sporting activities as well as the magnificent Surrey Hills. If you fancy getting active with sports or exploring the Surrey countryside here are some ideas of what you can do.
Surrey Sports Park
Surrey’s leading sports facility, for group sports such as football or volley ball, to rock climbing or swimming.
Guildford Spectrum
A fantastic leisure centre in Guildford, with swimming pool plus family fun pool with slides, plus ice stating rink, and bowling alley, plus all the other sports facilities.
Leatherhead Leisure Centre
Recently refurbished, the leisure centre has all the facilities of a local leisure centre
Horse Racing
Surrey is lucky enough to have 4 nationally important racecourses, Epsom, Kempton Park, Sandown Park and Lingfield Park. With fixtures throughout the year in addition to the world famous Derby at Epsom this is a superb day out for any group of any size.
Go Ape
Go Ape at Farnham is a tree-top adventure of wires, zip lines, ropes and all kinds of fun. Ideal for family outings, office team building and larger groups.
Mercedes Benz World
Have a go with a driving Experience at Mercedes Benz World. From off road, to the skid pan, or driving for under 16’s this is a superb experience!
Cycling in Surrey
With much of the Olympic Road Cycling Race taking place in Surrey for London 2012, together with Surrey being the final stage of the Tour of Britain, Surrey is now firmly on the cycling map. With a great variety of terrains and roads, Surrey is the perfect place to get out the bicycle, go for a 50 mile ride and include some of the hills, or a small 10 mile ride with a pub at the end, there is plenty of opportunity. With good transport links of roads, trains and buses, visitors are able to get to their start or finish easily, together with a great number of pubs and café’s along routes to assist you on your way, Surrey is a great cycle county. Just remember, cycle safe!
Walking in Surrey
With a quarter of Surrey being totally rural Surrey is the county to go walking. It has a huge diversity of flora and fauna, with the heights of Boxhill, Leith Hill and Ranmore all on chalk, through to the clay soils but marvellous oak woodlands of Bookham and Ashtead Commons, through to wetlands at Thursley Common, the natural basin at the Devils Punch Bowl, the pine trees and heathland at Horsell Common or the sandy lakes at Frensham Ponds. Surrey will keep you walking for miles. Don’t forget to add a divert in for a pub stop on the way, it will keep you going!

- Why not combine a morning having fun at Go Ape with an afternoon at the Rural Life Centre or a walk around Frensham Ponds, you could stop in Farnham before hand for lunch.
- A morning in Guildford then an afternoon or driving at Mercedes Benz World.
- A mornings walk around Boxhill followed by lunch and then an afternoon tour of Denbies Wine Estate.
- A morning at Grayshott Pottery with light lunch followed by a walk around the Devils Punch Bowl in the afternoon.
