Inspirational Early Autumn Sculpture Exhibition at The Savill Garden
2nd August 2018
The natural haven of beautifully designed gardens and woodland at The Savill Garden, located within Windsor Great Park, will be the setting for one of the country’s most diverse exhibitions of sculpture - from 25th September until 5th November. The early autumn event will feature sculptures created by members of the Surrey Sculpture Society, who range from new and emerging sculptors to internationally acclaimed sculptors from across the South of England.

The sculptors’ creations will be carefully positioned throughout various areas within The Savill Garden’s 35 acres, including the Hidden Gardens, Spring Wood, Summer Gardens, New Zealand Garden, Summer Wood, The Glades, Autumn Wood and the Winter Beds. The works of art will complement the abundance of unusual plants sourced by plant explorers from across the globe.
John Anderson, Keeper of the Garden for Windsor Great Park commented:
“It is very exciting to be working with the Surrey Sculpture Society again in one of the most beautiful gardens in the country. I am looking forward to seeing the sculptures enhancing and challenging the Garden’s landscapes, and hope that our visitors will be inspired by this combination of artistic and horticultural excellence.”
Henriette van der Does, Surrey Sculpture Society Chair, commented:
“We are proud to announce our renewed involvement with the management and design of the sculpture exhibition at The Savill Garden this autumn. It is one of the most prestigious locations to show the work created by our members. This garden offers us the perfect backdrop, combining the magic of nature and its textures and colours with hand-crafted and soul searching works of art.”
Jonathan Hateley, the SSS Exhibition manager for the event commented:
“It's been a challenging yet exciting task deciding which sculptures to select from a wealth of entries to appear at this prestigious venue. With the help of The Savill Garden and the Surrey Sculpture Society team, we have hopefully selected an exhibition of work which will capture the public’s imagination.”
The sculpture exhibition will be designed by SSS sculptor Mehran Ghahari who will be collaborating closely with The Savill Garden’s Michelle Cleave on the positioning of the sculptures.
Michelle Cleave, Garden Team Leader at The Savill Garden commented:
“It has been an exciting process working with Mehran to curate an exhibition with such a diverse range of materials and ideas. The sculpture sits perfectly within the undulating landscape and inspiring views and acts as a response to this wonderful garden of all seasons”
Visitors to the event will discover affordable and original sculpture made from a diverse range of materials including bronze, resin, glass, metal, wood, stone, ceramic and found objects that can form eye-catching focal points in gardens, conservatories and interiors, with all sculptures for sale during the event.
