The official launch of a new jetty on the River Thames in Staines was celebrated on Friday 4 June.
Located in Memorial Gardens, the jetty has been created to allow tour boats operators to pick-up and drop-off customers, connecting Staines with Hampton Court and Windsor.
The boat tours are expected to be popular with visitors to Staines as well as residents, providing a convenient local departure point for attractions such as Windsor Castle and Hampton Court Palace. French Brothers will become the first operator to use the jetty.
The River Thames Task Group, which aims to improve access and leisure activities along Spelthorne's 12 mile stretch of river, commissioned the jetty.
Cllr Vivienne Leighton, Chair of the River Thames Task Group, said: "This new jetty will enable us to welcome more visitors to Staines and help the town to become more competitive as people take a trip on the water.
"We value our riverside location highly and want to cherish and improve access to the river for residents and visitors to make our Borough an even better place to live."
The Mayor of Spelthorne, Cllr Ian Harvey, Chris Howard, Chair of Visit Surrey, as well as MP for Spelthorne, Kwasi Kwarteng, were present at the opening.
The Mayor of Spelthorne said: "It was a privilege to be at this event and see the jetty in use for the first time. I hope our residents enjoy having a new way of accessing our wonderful River Thames and enjoy the views that Spelthorne has to offer."
