Guildford Town Centre
Guildford is an historic market town set amongst the Surrey Hills on the River Wey and still has markets on Fridays and Saturdays in North Street, and a special Farmers' Market on the first Tuesday of each month on the High Street (except January)
Guildford High Street
The beautiful cobbled streets, historic buildings and famous Guildhall clock make Guildford one of the most attractive high streets in the country. With a great selection of designer stores, including Jo Malone, LK Bennett and Jaeger, two big name department stores, Debenhams and House of Fraser and a host of well known high street shops such as Monsoon, M&S, and Gap, Guildford can cater for all shopping tastes. Shopping centres White Lion Walk and Tunsgate Square can also be found just off the high street, offering an even greater selection of perfect places for your fix of retail therapy!
And for that well-earned break, our range of cafes, restaurants and bars will help you turn your shopping trip into a great day out.
From well-known stores, a modern shopping centre to a traditional market – North Street is as diverse as its shoppers.
The Friary shopping centre offers shoppers three floors of shops under one roof and a range of snacks and meals from the top floor Food Court. There are plenty of big name stores to chose from, including Top Shop, HMV and Primark.
Along with other major high street names, North Street is home to a traditional street market every Friday and Saturday. Featuring over 30 stalls selling a variety of goods, including fresh meat, fish, fruit, veg and flowers, you’ll also find great gifts, accessories and a range of goods for the home.
Chapel Street and the Lanes
Chapel Street is renowned as Guildford’s premier shopping and dining destination. Lined with up-market boutiques and a range of eateries this area of town keeps going long after the shops have closed. Crossing between North Street and the High Street, The Lanes, a series of medieval side streets, offers the intrepid shopper something special, with a range of independent and intriguing stores to choose from. Be tempted by all the home and kitchenware at Lakeland or the cool comforts of The White Company to name but a few.
Upper High Street
Not as quaint as the cobbled High Street, but it makes up for this in convenience and style. Featuring an array of stores and eateries there’s something for everyone’s style and budget. Enjoy, mid-range meals at Zizzi’s, Pizza Express or Giraffe or a quick snack at MacDonalds.
The area is great for parking too, with 30-minute parking slots available and only a short walk to the long stay car park at York Road.
