About

Frensham Common is a fine example of open Surrey heathland. It is one of the largest expanses in the Weald and designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Special Protection Area (SPA). It covers 372 hectares (922 acres) and consists of dry and wet heath, some woodland, scrub and ponds. It is of great importance for heathland insects, reptiles and birds, such as the Nightjar, Stonechat and Whinchat.

Enjoy the beach but please follow the rules:

Always check the water quality before swimming.
Dogs are not allowed on the beaches at anytime.
Barbeques and fires are not permitted.
Inflatable boats and rings are not allowed anywhere on the pond.

Refreshments and toils are available at both ponds.

The common and Great Pond is leased to Waverley Borough Council which manages the area.

The Little Pond is owned and managed by the National Trust.

Public Transport Directions

Stagecoach bus route no 19 from Farnham Station to Haslemere station stops opposite Frensham Ponds. The bus operates hourly but does not run on a Sunday.

* Car park closes at 9pm
Parking is free during the week. However parking charges apply on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays from 10am - 4.30pm from Easter Good Friday until the end of September.
