Events in Waverley

Despite being a relatively quiet and relaxed part of the country, Waverley has a packed calendar of events from art exhibitions and music and food festivals.   Here’s a brief taste…

When it comes to the arts, Farnham Maltings is an excellent place to start. Annual festivals at the venue include thread (a festival of textiles), unravel (a festival of yarn) and the festival of crafts (a showcase of the UK's finest artisans).

Also in the town, New Ashgate Gallery hosts the Surrey Artist of the Year competition; The Foyer Gallery and the James Hockey Gallery at UCA Farnham is open midweek; and Farnham Pottery is now seeing a new lease of life as a community-based craft and education experience.

Farnham also goes crafts crazy as a whole every October for Craft Month, which sees arts and crafts events taking over the town.

In Godalming, Staycation Live, a community music, food and arts festival, is held in August each year and  is one of the highlights of the town’s calendar. The bandstand in The Burys alongside the River Wey also hosts regular music during the summer months.

The Haslemere Festival runs in odd years in May; Haslemere and Fringe runs in even years in July. They also have the Haslemere Hall arts venue for musical theatre, live music and cinema.

While the Cranleigh Show is usually among Surrey’s top agricultural shows and Cranleigh Arts Centre offers everything from live music to free-to-explore exhibitions.

Waverley is food mad too! Tempt your taste buds at Godalming Food Festival in July, Farnham Food & Drink Festival in September and Haslemere Food Festival in September, all of which bring hundreds of food and drink producers to the area. Don’t miss the monthly farmers’ markets at Farnham, Godalming, Milford, Haslemere and Cranleigh either.

We’ve only focused on the main centres in the above run-down of Waverley events, but you’ll find plenty more things to do constantly added to this page below.
