Our new themes for 2026

GOING UNDERGROUND FOR SURREY DAY

One of our key themes for 2026 will be exploring ‘Underground Surrey’. From food and drink production, to wonderful places to visit both above and below ground - Surrey Day delves into the layers of soil, rock, and history that support and shape our county. There’s so much we don’t know about ‘what lies beneath’ and we can’t wait to find out more.

HIDDEN TREASURES

We’re looking to spark an interest in getting to know Surrey from a different perspective, through a series of ‘treasure hunts’ across the county. They will give everyone a chance to explore the place we’re lucky enough to call home and perhaps learn something new!

As well as uploading your Surrey Day 2026 event(s) on the Visit Surrey website, make sure to share it over social media using the hashtag #SurreyDay and we will share as much positivity as possible! You'll find us at @VisitSurrey on FacebookTwitter and Instagram.

Tune in

On Surrey Day itself, tune into BBC Radio Surrey on 104.6 FM to enjoy a full day of programmes dedicated to Surrey Day dusk on Surrey Day.

We can't wait to celebrate Surrey Day with you all!

Celebrating Success: How Surrey Businesses Made the Most of Last Year’s Surrey Day

Lucy Letley
Albury Vineyard
General Manager

Surrey Day this year was a really busy day for us. The vineyard is always open for people to explore at weekends, but the dog-walking theme gave us a brilliant opportunity to enhance something we already do and turn it into a special event, with just a few added extras to make it fun for families and really attractive to publicise in advance and for social media on the day. And the result was that we got lots of completely new visitors - but just as importantly, it gave previous visitors a reason to come back and enjoy exploring the vineyard all over again. And in fact several of the extra things we laid on this year - a photo competition and special dog menu - proved so popular on the day that we've kept them going throughout the year.

So getting involved in Surrey Day needn't mean putting on an extra event or using lots of resources to create something from scratch - it can just be the perfect chance to refresh something you already do and remind people of what a wonderful place they have on their doorstep. We're already coming up with ideas of how we can tie in to both of next year's themes and looking forward to another fantastic Surrey Day!

Jo McGowan
BID Manager - Hello Dorking

Surrey Day 2025 was a huge success for us. Our plans started out quite small, but the theme just seemed to capture people’s imaginations, and bit by bit, more organisations got in touch with ideas of how they might get involved – and it ended up being one of the town’s highest footfall days of the entire year.

The theme was a real help, giving us a hook to work with when thinking about which spaces to use and what activities might appeal to different groups of people. On the day, we had visitors of all ages coming along, with the whole town having a real buzz about it – and the cafes in particular having their best trading day ever!

The publicity Surrey Day generated for the town was fantastic of course – we shared lots of pictures throughout the day on Surrey Day social media, and it was great to have the BBC coming along to shine a spotlight on our event. But the best thing about it was the feeling of tapping into something bigger and being a part of a truly Surrey-wide celebration. Dorking has always had a strong sense of community, and people are very ready to turn out for town events - but Surrey Day really did bring everyone together in a special way, and I feel that it’s kick-started something very special for us. We’re already planning how to tie into next year’s theme and know it’s going to give us a brilliant springboard for talking about the town and its history, and showcasing some of its very own hidden treasures!
