Garden Centres & Farm Shops

Garden centres in Surrey are often one-stop lifestyle destinations, where you can shop for unique home and garden products, grab a cup of tea and cake or browse an adjoining farm shop stocked full of local food and drink.

Surrey's farm shops are in a league of their own when it comes to local produce, fresh veggies, wines, gins and beers and the best butcher counters.

Secretts farm shop in Milford, for example, is a foodie dream and their farm is a trusted grower for some of the best restaurants in the country, as well as other farm shops.

Why Surrey is a haven for gardening inspiration

If you’re inspired by Surrey’s internationally renowned RHS flower shows at Hampton Court Palace and Wisley - or by a recent National Garden Scheme visit - then a green-fingered day out at your local garden centre should be next on your list.

Whether you’re searching for geraniums or apple trees, new gloves or tools, patio heaters or rustic chimineas, or just looking to catch up with friends and family in a coffee shop, Surrey's garden centres are great places to go.

As well as the best national gardening brands, you’ll often be able to find local crafts and gifts from Surrey artists and makers at garden centres too.

A passion and fascination with gardens and gardening is nothing new in Surrey. Our county was home to the Edwardian horticulturalist, Gertrude Jekyll, who is still admired today as one of England’s great garden designers.

Her designs can be seen at the immaculate Vann near Hambledon and her former home of Munstead Wood near Godalming, both of which open by appointment at various times throughout the year. The garden at Goddards in Abinger, which can be booked for holidays through the Landmark Trust, is another example.

Suffice to say, if you love gardening, garden centres and garden visits, you’re never far from inspiration in Surrey.
