About
In the picturesque village of Hambledon, in the Surrey Hills area of outstanding natural beauty, the Merry Harriers resides, its origins dating back to the 16th century. Our traditional, welcoming village inn is steeped in history, with the landlord’s names dating back to the early 1700’s written on the pub walls. Old oak beams stretch across the bar and restaurant dining areas, a roaring fireplace heats the bar area with a hearty crackle and snap of the seasoned logs. Full of character and life, our children and dog friendly inn offers excellent food, award-winning local ales and wines, a lovely garden, first rate accommodation in our Inn and Garden Rooms, and 5 luxury Shepherd’s Huts, as well as an element of the unexpected, a friendly herd of curious llamas, who are always keen for a walk through the Surrey Hills with eager trekkers.
The Merry Harriers is a natural stop-over for walkers and cyclists, and the perfect destination for an enjoyable meal with friends, or a relaxing stay in one of our beautifully designed accommodations. The seasonal menu boasts daily specials, pub classics from Traditional sausage and mash, and fish and chips, to the popular seafood platters, a selection of homemade burgers and vegan chilli, locally source Sirlion steak with plenty of choice for vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Daily homemade desserts from the specials board. A fine selection of local ales, wines and spirits on offer as well as a comprehensive spirit and wine menu.
Your pooch is welcome to join you for all of your meals in the breakfast room, fireside bar and the main dining room. The hotel offers lovely dog-friendly Garden Rooms, set back from the pretty lawns and terraces, allowing space and privacy - perfect for doggie guests. We recommend room number 7, with double doors opening onto a secluded outdoor seating area, overlooking the paddock and herd of friendly llamas! For the ultimate glamping experience, there are five luxury dog-friendly Shepherd’s Huts to choose from set around a picturesque field with tranquil pond and overlooking rolling hills with horses.
Stay experiences are plentiful, with signature Llama Love experience which can be enjoyed all year round as well as cycling getaways, gin tasting experience with local distillery located next door to the Inn. Other seasonal packages are available including Festive and celebratory packages. Day treks are available with the friendly herd of Llama’s and in the warmer months these are complimented with luxury picnic hampers, or all year round pub lunches.
The Llamas have therapeutic and calming qualities and make the perfect walking companions for a morning, afternoon or evening hike; the setting is perfect place to get outdoors and enjoy the beautiful scenery, flora and fauna of the local area.
We are also an ideal option for individuals whom are using the extensive network of wedding and party venues in the Surrey Hills area; we have good road connections to all venues locally, and offer excellent rates to individuals whom book the majority of our rooms for their special day. We can help coordinate taxi services to get you to your venues, we can provide private dining rooms for your party before or after the big day, and we are also more than happy to accommodate your needs should you wish to hold your reception in our extensive inn garden! For those with a fun disposition, why not do a wedding party llama trek too? Our llamas are the perfect way to get a memorable snap shot of your big day, and they are always willing to pose for a selfie or two.
