History lovers can explore some of the UK’s finest heritage sites in Surrey. Highlights include Polesden Lacey in Great Bookham, an Edwardian mansion with royal connections, and Claremont Landscape Garden in Esher, a historic pleasure ground. Surrey’s many National Trust houses and gardens make wonderful, quintessentially English days out all year round.
Surrey has become a hotspot for English wine tourism. Visit Denbies Wine Estate, which is one of England’s largest single estate vineyards, or boutique producers like Albury Vineyard, Chilworth Manor Vineyard, High Clandon Estate, and Greyfriars Vineyard - all offering tours and tastings on the Vineyards of the Surrey Hills wine route.
Beer and gin lovers will enjoy a trip to Hogs Back Brewery in Tongham, near Farnham; Dorking Brewery at Capel, just south of Dorking; or Silent Pool Distillery, where award-winning craft spirits are created beside the crystal-clear Silent Pool.
Walkers will love Surrey’s extensive network of footpaths. The famous North Downs Way runs through the heart of the Surrey Hills National Landscape, offering breath-taking views and fabulous walks across the South East.
