Festivals, Fairs and Fetes in Surrey
Music, beer, food, arts and much more, Surrey comes alive throughout the year with a fabulous programme of festivals for all to enjoy.
The bi-annual Guildford Music Festival bursts onto the scene in March, featuring renowned classical and contemporary artists, jazz musicians, big band arrangements and solo, acoustic set ups. While the Frimley Lodge Live festival in August is great fun for all the family.
Guildford's Summer Festival runs throughout the summer months with a range of fantastic family events, concerts and entertainment. Whilst the Guildford Fringe Festival, which runs at the same time, offers a more off-the-cuff alternative in entertainment, with skits and sketches taking place at pubs and other venues throughout the town as well as impromptu performances up and down the high street.
Other popular music festivals include Weyfest in Farnham, a family friendly weekend festival in September held within the grounds of the Rural Life Centre.
Food festivals feature within many of Surrey's town and villages throughout the year, offering visitors the chance to discover the region`s local produce, fill up on tastings from local restaurants and watch local chefs work their magic on the demo stage. Woking, Godalming and Kingston all present popular food festivals also taking place in Kingston, Woking, Leatherhead and Godalming.
Surrey holds a number of very popular craft beer and cider festivals which pay homage to the region`s brewing heritage, whilst also celebrating ales from further afield
On a literary note, the annual Guildford Book Festival welcomes some of the country's best-selling authors to the town in October, from Children's favourites to Booker prize winners.
