One of the UK’s best loved cooks, keen gardener and RHS ambassador, Dame Mary Berry visited RHS Garden Wisley, near Woking, to place the last ‘self-raising flower’ on top of a 1.5m floral “cake” to celebrate the opening of the new Oudolf Landscape on Thursday September 26, 2024.

The 1.5m floral cake featured more than 1,000 blooms, including seasonal stems of British hydrangea, dahlias, seedum and zinnias, was designed and created by one the country’s best known and admired florists, Simon Lycett.

Situated between the Viewing Mount and the Glasshouse Landscape, the Oudolf Landscape has been created by Dutch garden designer and plantsman Piet Oudolf, created the original Glasshouse Borders more than 20 years ago.

The newly planted landscape allows visitors to be enveloped in his signature ‘New Perennial’ style while admiring the stunning views towards Wisley’s cathedral-like Glasshouse.
